Warrior Nun
Here’s a festive little number to ring in the new year- The Orange Blossom! We’ve been sipping on versions of this, throughout the holiday season and enjoying its bright and cheerful disposition.
It is reminiscent of a French 75, but with a few liberties taken. The orange blossom simple syrup adds sweet, citrusy, floral notes that delight the taste buds, and orange bitters add bit of complexity.
Bright, bubbly, and effervescent- it’s the perfect New Year’s Eve cocktail.
What you will need

Ingredient Notes
- Gin. A good-quality gin will enhance the flavors even more. Look for gin with citrusy or floral notes like Japanese Roku Gin, The Botanist Gin, or Citadelle Jardin D’Ete Gin.
- Orange blossom simple syrup. The star of the recipe! It adds a sweet, floral flavor with a citrus fragrance to the cocktail. You can purchase Orange Blossom Simple Syrup or make it from scratch- see recipe notes.
- Blood orange bitters. Just a tiny bit goes a long way. Just 3-4 drops will add a distinctive complexity to your drink. Or sub-orange bitters.
- Sparkling wine. Like a French 75, the cocktail is floated with a pour of sparkling wine. Use prosecco, champagne, cava or a sparkling rose if you like.
- Sugared Rim. Golden sugar is pretty here- try cocktail sugar or demerara sugar.
- Garnish. Dried citrus slices. These are optional but fun. See notes on how to make.
How to make an orange blossom cocktail
Fill a shaker with ice and add the gin, orange blossom syrup, bitters, and lime juice.

Shake until the shaker is cold to the fingers. (About 15-30 seconds.)

Rim your favorite cocktail glasses with festive cocktail sugar. Rub a lime around the rim of the glass, then dip the glass into the sugar (you can pour sugar on a small plate).

Pour the cold cocktail into the rimmed glasses. Top with sparkling wine.
Then add the garnish using dried orange peels, chrysanthemum, eucalyptus, rosemary, mint, or any edible flower or herbs.
