“Ritual” may sound mysterious, but in reality, it’s all about repetition, focus, and a consistent set of actions that signal to the nervous system that something specific is happening. 4. Time boundary. Consistently dedicating five minutes is more sustainable than pushing through a thirty-minute session. Begin with small steps.

A simple chakra ritual (5 minutes)

  1. Apply 2–3 drops of a chakra-aligned essential oil or body oil to your wrists and the chakra’s physical location.
  2. Sit comfortably. Close your eyes.
  3. Inhale for four counts. Exhale for six.
  4. Mentally repeat the chakra’s affirmation (I Am Grounded, Joyful, Confident, etc.) with each exhale.
  5. Continue for five minutes. Conclude with three slow breaths and open your eyes.

Practicing this ritual daily effectively shifts both nervous system tone and emotional baseline within a few weeks.

Smell directly impacts the limbic system, the emotional center of the brain. When you consistently associate a specific scent with a particular state — be it calmness, focus, or openness — the scent itself becomes capable of evoking that state. This phenomenon is known as “anchoring.”
