If you’re looking for a simple and effective way to meditate that is both relaxing and profound, I have some instructions to share with you. This meditation technique combines Buddhist mindfulness and insight meditation to calm your mind, focus your attention, and bring self-awareness of your authentic nature. It’s a practice that I personally use daily.
This technique is a powerful and ancient method for instant stress reduction, clarity, and inner peace. Daily meditation has been shown to offer significant health benefits.
*Best of all, this meditation is free and you can start right now. Follow the instructions below, find a quiet place, and begin your meditation journey.
How To Meditate
1) Start by finding a comfortable cushion, meditation stool, or mat for your practice. Choose a peaceful spot in your home dedicated to meditation. Treat this space with respect and make it a sanctuary for peace and personal growth.
2) Set a timer for your meditation session to avoid distractions. Begin with at least five minutes and gradually increase to longer durations, up to 30 minutes. Try to meditate at the same time each day to establish a routine.
3) Sit upright with good posture, hands resting in your lap or on your knees. Take a few deep breaths to relax your body and mind. Close your eyes gently and commit to remaining still throughout the meditation.
4) Focus on your breath without altering it. Let your breath serve as your anchor during meditation. Whenever your mind wanders, gently bring your attention back to your breath without judgment. This is the practice of mindfulness.
5) As you continue to observe your breath, allow your mind to relax and just be. Embrace a state of open awareness, accepting everything that arises without effort. Let your mind settle like a muddy glass becoming clear. Practice effortless being.
6) Despite distractions like thoughts and sensations, maintain your focus on the breath and rest in a state of open awareness. Allow everything to flow freely within your relaxed consciousness. Recognize your true nature as the transcendent witness. This is the path to special insight.
Embrace simplicity and openness during your meditation:
1) Just sit.
2) Just breathe.
3) Just be.
After your meditation, rise slowly and carry the peace of awareness with you throughout your day.
