Throughout the year, we may find ourselves holding onto worries, fears, aggravation, and anger. Despite our efforts to let go of these emotions, they often find a way back into our lives. This is simply a part of being human, as we all experience a range of emotions. While some emotions like happiness, love, passion, and excitement are positive, others can feel burdensome. It’s important to acknowledge and express these emotions, as holding onto them can affect our bodies, minds, and spirits.
Thankfully, as humans, we have the ability to release these emotions in healthy ways. For instance, frustrations can impact our Liver energy and cause internal distress. It’s essential to find ways to let go of these emotions as we approach the end of the year. Here are some tips to help you release what you’ve been holding onto:
1. Eggs! Find a plant that could benefit from some extra nourishment and throw a dozen eggs towards it. As you release the eggs, make a “Ha” sound to symbolize letting go.
2. Bubble Wrap! Lay out a sheet of bubble wrap and jump on it freely. Encourage your children to join in as well. With each popped bubble, visualize releasing any pent-up emotions.
3. Dance! Music can be a therapeutic outlet. Put on some upbeat music and dance with abandon. If you’re concerned about others watching, simply close the blinds and dance until you feel a sense of liberation.
4. Balloon Project! Write down the things that have troubled you throughout the year on small pieces of paper. Place these papers inside balloons, inflate them, and then release your emotions by dancing, jumping, and stomping on the balloons until you’ve let go of everything you no longer need.
