Discovering Your True Self Through Self-Knowledge
Exploring the depths of self-awareness, known as Atma-Bodha, is a journey for those who have embraced inner peace, transcended cravings, and seek ultimate liberation. Just as fire is essential for cooking, true freedom can only be attained through self-realization. Among all spiritual practices, self-knowledge stands out as the direct path to liberation.
Actions alone cannot dispel ignorance, as they do not directly oppose it. True enlightenment, like light piercing through darkness, is the only antidote to ignorance. The finite nature of the soul is merely a product of ignorance. When ignorance fades, the true self, devoid of multiplicity, shines forth like the sun emerging from behind clouds.
The worldly attachments and aversions we experience are akin to a fleeting dream. They seem real in the moment but dissolve into unreality when true wisdom dawns. The ego, seeming so real, fades away in the presence of the Absolute Being, the foundation of all creation, much like the illusion of silver in mother-of-pearl. The universe, with all its transient forms, emerges from and dissolves back into the Supreme Self, the essence of all existence.
Everything in the manifested world, from beings to objects, is a projection of the Eternal, All-pervading Being, the essence of Existence and Intelligence. Just as different ornaments are crafted from the same gold, the diversity we perceive is a result of various relative conditions overlaying the universal consciousness.
As limiting conditions dissolve, space unifies; similarly, the Omnipresent Truth appears diverse due to its associations with various contexts. Concepts like caste, color, and status are imposed on pure consciousness, much like flavors and colors are added to water.
Recognize the Absolute Being as non-dual, indivisible, and blissful, the Immutable Substratum beyond all tangible forms. All actions stem from the Absolute, permeating every aspect of existence like butter in milk. It is neither subtle nor gross, birthless, and formless, illuminating even the brightest celestial bodies like the Sun and the Moon.
The Supreme Being, pervading both outwardly and inwardly, shines independently, like fire within a red-hot iron ball. The Absolute is synonymous with the universe; nothing exists outside of it. Any perceived object apart from the Absolute is as unreal as a mirage. All that is seen or heard is but a manifestation of the Absolute, leading to the realization of the Universe as the non-dual Existence-Knowledge-Bliss-Absolute.
Pure Consciousness, omnipresent and eternal, is perceived only by the eye of wisdom. The purified meditator, free from impurities, gleams like gold, radiating the Sun of Knowledge within the heart. This inner light dispels ignorance, sustains all, and reveals the interconnectedness of all existence.
By renouncing worldly attachments and limitations, one can worship their own pure consciousness, present everywhere and eternal. This practice leads to omniscience and omnipresence, culminating in immortality.
