Uncovering Your Authentic Self.
Ultimately, the core purpose of meditation is to unveil your true self. All meditation practices serve as a stepping stone towards reconnecting with your authentic self, merging with the essence of your being. Once all uncertainties are resolved, you are prepared to acknowledge and embrace your ultimate identity as pure, clear, and whole. Your inherent nature is pristine empty awareness, naturally infused with wisdom, love, and balance.
Nothing can damage it, and nothing can enhance it, as it is formless and limitless. All experiences, whether perceived as ‘good’ or ‘bad’, are rooted in this perfect empty awareness, and in truth, all experiences are inherently interconnected with it.
Every manifestation is a radiant expression of empty awareness. A primordial unity manifesting as a multitude of possibilities. Our true self has been recognized by various names across different cultures and eras, but as a humble practitioner, there is no need to speculate or analyze the ineffable; the Path of Meditation simply involves allowing it to exist and resting in natural presence.
The journey is only necessary because we have strayed from our true home, thus it becomes a journey back to our genuine selves. Starting from false identities, meditation practice guides us towards the treasure that has always awaited within us.
The most direct path to spiritual awakening is through effortless presence. Simply Being. Abiding in the natural state of awareness without seeking, objectifying, or fabricating mental states. Cease all striving and simply rest. Rest in the profound peace of awareness and embody your true self.
Meditation Master Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche advises: “Abandon all hope and fear, and rest in the unwavering certainty that the eternal simplicity of awareness is the only practice needed to become an Awakened Being. This is the Perfect Path of Meditation, where peace, love, and wisdom flourish effortlessly.”
Recognizing our true nature of Pure Presence is essential. Without this recognition, one may remain trapped in a cycle of ignorance and turmoil, endlessly seeking peace and fulfillment externally. Meditation, introspection, and self-exploration are vital in unveiling our ultimate identity.
Your natural state is discovered by simply being, releasing the need to strive for anything more and embracing your authentic self. In certain meditation traditions, enlightenment is found in the ordinary mind as it is at this moment. No additions, no subtractions, just naturally perfect in the present moment. What a relief.
