Exploring the 7 Facets of Wisdom Within Your True Self
These seven wisdoms are inherent and ever-present, yet often obscured by thoughts, distractions, and fears. You can explore each wisdom individually or simply embrace your true self by letting go and being in the present moment – without striving to change. Through meditation practice, these innate potentials can be uncovered and nurtured, allowing them to radiate in your life and beyond.
1) Embracing Impermanence
The wisdom of impermanence involves letting go of attachments and clinging. While the most evident form of impermanence is the certainty of death, there’s a subtler aspect in the constant flux and change of every moment. To be in harmony with this wisdom is to flow with life’s transitions. This wisdom, sometimes known as the wisdom of insecurity, invites us to embrace the dance of life without resistance.
2) Reflective Awareness
Known as ‘mirror-like wisdom,’ this type of awareness mirrors reality as it is, without distortion. Just as a mirror reflects objects clearly, our mind can perceive things without judgment or bias. By practicing zazen or observing as a witness, one can access this wisdom by simply being present and attentive.
3) Seeing Equality in All
The wisdom of equality allows awareness to view all beings and phenomena as inherently equal, fostering openness and alertness. Recognizing every being as an expression of enlightened consciousness nurtures compassion and love. By perceiving all things as manifestations of the same universal energy, one can cultivate a sense of oneness and interconnectedness.
4) Intuitive Understanding
All-knowing wisdom enables awareness to intuitively grasp the essence of objects and beings by simply observing without judgment. Through self-awareness and clear observation, one can uncover universal truths and deepen their understanding of themselves and the world.
5) Embracing Acceptance
The wisdom of acceptance allows awareness to embrace all experiences, whether positive or negative, without reacting based on fear or attachment. By mindfully observing the present moment without resistance, one can cultivate a sense of spaciousness and acceptance.
6) Unwavering Stability
Indestructible wisdom reflects the essential nature of awareness, remaining stable and untouched by external circumstances. Like the sky unaffected by weather or a mirror untainted by reflections, this wisdom offers composure and confidence in the face of challenges.
7) Radiating Love
Love, a form of wisdom, bridges the gap between unity and individuality, fostering harmony and understanding. Like the sun’s rays shining on all equally, love emanates from the true self, transcending barriers and judgments. Removing internal obstacles allows the innate wisdom of love, along with the other six wisdoms, to naturally shine forth.
