The journey to the Olympia will see changes in the upcoming season.
The road to Olympia qualification is set to change for the 2026 season. The IFBB Pro League has introduced a new points and qualification system for the premier bodybuilding event. Details of the new regulations can be found below, as outlined by the IFBB Pro League’s Instagram account:
Men’s Open, 212, Women’s Bodybuilding, Fitness, Figure, Women’s Physique, and Fit Model
The criteria for these categories will largely remain unchanged. The top three athletes in each Olympia contest will automatically secure a spot in the 2026 Olympia. Additionally, winners of professional contests throughout the 2026 season will also earn qualification. The top three finishers of the Rising Phoenix competition will be invited to the 2026 Ms. Olympia event.
Past Olympia champions will retain their lifetime eligibility, but must obtain approval from the IFBB Pro League to compete in the Olympia if five years have passed since their last Olympia victory.
An important announcement included the introduction of the Fit Model division. The Fit Model Olympia will consist of 12 divisions for the annual world championship.
Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Bikini, and Wellness
The qualification rules for Olympia champions and podium finishers will remain in place. The past champions’ rule will also be in effect for these divisions.
The champions of the 2026 Arnold Classic (USA), 2026 Pittsburgh Pro, 2026 New York Pro, 2026 Romania Fest Pro, and 2026 Dubai Pro will secure berths in the 2026 Olympia.
Outside of these events, athletes must win two professional contests to qualify for the Olympia.
Points System
The major change for these categories is the introduction of a new points system. Athletes finishing second through fifth at the 2026 Arnold Classic (USA), 2026 Pittsburgh Pro, 2026 New York Pro, 2026 Romania Fest Pro, and 2026 Dubai Pro will earn the following points:
- 2nd — 14
- 3rd — 11
- 4th — 9
- 5th — 7
Professional contests not mentioned above in the 2026 calendar will no longer offer automatic Olympia qualifications. Instead, they will award points to the top five finishers as follows:
- 1st — 10
- 2nd — 4
- 3rd — 3
- 4th — 2
- 5th — 1
The Top 25 point-earners by the end of the season will earn Olympia qualification. These adjustments are made in response to the large number of qualified athletes for the 2025 Olympia. Currently, some divisions have up to 60 competitors who have qualified for the Olympia.
Men’s Wheelchair
The rules for the Men’s Wheelchair division will remain consistent with previous years: the top three finishers at the Olympia and winners of each professional contest during the 2026 season will qualify for the 2026 Olympia.
Athletes who do not win professional contests will earn points based on the following structure:
- 2nd — 10
- 3rd — 9
- 4th — 8
- 5th — 7
The top five athletes at the end of the qualifying season will progress to the Olympia.
Dan Solomon Speaks
Olympia President Dan Solomon provided insight to BarBend on the rationale behind the new points system.
“Our goal is to uphold the prestige of the Olympia as the world championship for the 11 divisions within the IFBB Pro League,” Solomon stated. “The sport is experiencing remarkable growth, and we are grateful for the support of fans and athletes.”
The 2026 Olympia qualifying season will kick off on September 15, 2025.
