There are two approaches to understanding our issues: from the outside in or from the inside out.
Looking from the outside in, it appears like this: You encounter a problem. Naturally, there’s a rationale behind it, correct? Consequently, you can always rationalize your actions to yourself. However, this is akin to a door with two locks—one on the outside and one on the inside. While someone may unlock the external lock in an attempt to assist you in self-discovery, unless you unlock the internal lock yourself, any assistance will be futile. Why? Because self-awareness is the key you lack.
Viewed from the inside out, the perspective shifts: If you’re on a spiritual quest, a part of you seeks the truth. As your Spirit evolves through spiritual practices, it clashes with the ego until you acknowledge: “I must change; I wish to change.” At that moment, you open the door from within. Despite lingering fear stemming from the belief that no one will be there to support you, go ahead and unlock the door.
Starting with minor adjustments can simplify the process of change. Initially, you may need to exert force. It will be challenging as it may feel unnatural. Nonetheless, embrace the discomfort so that it eventually becomes second nature.
Challenge yourself to engage in activities you wouldn’t typically consider. Cultivate discipline. By persevering through discomfort, you can make it a part of your routine. Push yourself to adopt discipline. You can either wait until circumstances compel change or take a proactive stance and make adjustments promptly. Each individual has a unique approach. Some prefer to wait for the full picture before altering their course, while others take risks based on partial information. Regardless of the path chosen, the key is to embrace change!
