Bitter Gourd (Bitter Melon) Recipes

If you’re looking to incorporate bitter gourd into your diet, there are plenty of delicious ways to do so. You can enjoy it raw as a salad, blend it into a tasty beverage, or even make a soothing bitter gourd tea.

1. Bitter Gourd Tea

Making your own healthy bitter gourd tea at home is easy and can be done daily.

  • 3-4 slices Dried or fresh slices of bitter gourd (no seeds)
  • 200 ml water
  • Honey or agave syrup

  • In a tea pan, bring water to a boil.

  • Boil the water on medium heat for about 10 minutes.

  • Add bitter gourd slices to the boiling water, ensuring all the nutrients are infused.

  • Remove from heat, add honey, and let it sit for a few minutes.

  • Strain the tea and serve hot.

2. Stir-Fried Bitter Gourd

For a tasty twist, try making stir-fried bitter gourd, a flavorful way to enjoy this healthy vegetable.

  • 1 tbsp Olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 2 sliced bitter gourds – seeds removed
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • 1 finely chopped tomato
  • 1 small onion – finely chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • Pepper powder
  • Salt to taste

  • Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat.

  • Add onion and garlic, cooking until golden brown.

  • Stir in tomatoes until well combined.

  • Add bitter gourd slices and cook until translucent.

  • Whisk eggs and pour over the mixture, stirring until cooked.

  • Season with salt and pepper, then serve alone or with noodles or rice.
